Fan Guide to the 2025 CIAC State Open Outdoor T&F Championships

After Wednesday’s posting of the qualifiers from the exciting class championships held Sunday through Tuesday, coaches and fans eagerly anticipate the quick turnaround to the CIAC State Open Championships on Saturday, June 7th that starts at 9:30am for field events and 10:00am for track events at Veterans’ Stadium at Willow Brook Park in New Britain.

The event start lists posted by Northeast Sports Timing are available on AthleticNet https://live.nestiming.com/meets/48744. The same site will be used for live results on Saturday.

In addition to the team competition, athletes are seeking to become State Open champions in individual events as well as finishing in the top six places in order to qualify for the New England Championships back in New Britain next Saturday. Many are also chasing a new personal record or a season best.

2025 CIAC Championship Order of Events

Track Events:

(Order is Girls then Boys unless noted otherwise)

    4x800m Relay

    4x100m Relay

    Girls 100m Hurdles - Semi

    Boys 110m Hurdles - Semi

    Girls 100m Dash - Semi

    Boys 100m Dash - Semi

    1600m Run

    Boys 110m Hurdles - Final

    Girls 100m Hurdles - Final

    Boys 100m Dash - Final

    Girls 100m Dash - Final

    400m Dash

    300m Hurdles

    800m Run

    200m Dash

    3200m Run

    4x400m Relay

Field Events:

Pole vault, shot put, discus, javelin, long jump and high jump will start simultaneously. The order is as follows:

  Girls Javelin followed by Boys Javelin

  Boys Discus followed by Girls Discus

  Girls Shot followed by Boys Shot

  Girls High Jump followed by Boys High Jump

  Girls Long Jump followed by Triple Jump

  Boys Long Jump followed by Triple Jump

  Girls Pole Vault and Boys Pole Vault simultaneously

Team and Event Awards

Teams compete for the Championship and runner-up trophies that will be awarded at each meet based on event scoring of 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1.

Medals will be awarded for the first six (6) places in all events. 

Spectator Fees for Class and Open Meets:

SPECTATORS ARE INVITED to attend these meets. 

Tickets are ONLY available online at: https://gofan.co/app/school/CIAC  

Charges for Class and State Open Championships will be: $5.00 – Student/Senior citizens (age 65 and older) and $10.00 – Adults

Safety is an emphasis at all CIAC events. Many events are potentially dangerous if proper precautions are not observed. Spectators may not be on the track or field and must remain in the assigned spectator areas.
