The 2025 Central Connecticut Conference Track and Field Championship brought no shortage of standout performances in its second season of the 30-team meet, with Bloomfield High School proving themselves a force to be reckoned with, taking the number one spot on both the girls (154) and boys team (101.5 points). East Hartford took yesterday’s second place spot for the boys with a score of 75 points, while Windsor followed at 56. For the girls, Windsor earned themselves second at 101 points, followed closely by Glastonbury at 93. With an abundance of excellent performances across the board yesterday, records were set, and champions were named.

Girls Championship Highlights

The Bloomfield girls repeated as conference champions winning 5 of the 18 events while scoring in 5 more and were led by double winner D’Asia Duncan. She swept yesterday’s hurdle events, claiming first in the 100m hurdle finals with a time of 14.16 while breaking a record in the prelims at 14.03, as well as claiming the 300m hurdle title at 44.43 seconds. 

In the field, strength was shown by Bloomfield’s Vanessa Agyemang in the jong jump with an outstanding leap of 18-04.75, accompanied by her teammate Indya Norman, who earned first place in the triple jump, at 37-02. Adding to Bloomfields success, Payton Sirdine claimed first place in the discus yesterday with her PR throw of 132-05 and #1 in CIAC so far this season. Sirdine also took 2nd in the shot put with a season best toss of 38-08.5. 

While Bloomfield owned the hurdles and field events, the Windsor girl’s team showed their absolute dominance in the relay events. The winning 4x800m team consisted of Evelyn Shwartz, Maya Donzella, Maria Tostarelli, and Hannah Donzella, with a season best time of 9:42.61. The victorious 4x100m team included Jaida Murray, Paige Wilson, Syniah Harding, and Tomari Gillespie, with a CT#1 time of 47.37. Lastly, the girls who led start to finish in the 4x400m were Paige Wilson, Grayson Harris, Evelyn Shwartz, and Maya Donzella, finishing in 3:59.00 for a new CT #2 this season.

Windsor’s Paige Wilson kept her team name strong, coming in first place and earning a new record for the 400m with a time of 56.12 seconds, now the 2nd fastest in CT this season. She was followed by Farmington’s Brooke Hacker with a 2-second PR in 56.85, the 3rd best in CT.

The winner of yesterday’s 1600m was Windsor’s Maya Donzella, at 4:59.27, her first time under 5-minutes and a CT#3 this season.

Samiya Eady of Manchester snagged a double win yesterday in the 100m and 200m sprinting events. Her 100m time was an impressive 12.28 seconds which set a new meet record, while her 200m a quick 24.6 seconds, also breaking a record in this event.

NBNI National Champion Brooke Strauss of Glastonbury took the 800m and set a new record with a time of 2:08.26, followed close behind by Conard High School’s Liv Sherry, at 2:11.30. Strauss also claimed the 3200m, coming in at 10:53.10. The 800m time by Strauss is the 4th fastest all time in CT history.

Glastonbury’s Eloise Mulready proved herself in this meet’s high jump, clearing 5-04.

Southington’s team scored two wins, with Megan Kasica soaring to 11 feet in the pole vault, while Erika Davies threw 120-06 to take the javelin with a new meet and personal record as well. 

Finally, East Hartford’s Bryanna Boroze grabbed first place and a record with a mark of 43-01.5 in the shot put that was a 2-foot PR and placed her at CT#1 this season.

Boys Championship Highlights

In amassing their winning point total the Bloomfield boys claimed 5 first place titles yesterday on the track and in the field. On the track, Jahiem Lawrence took the 400m at a fast 48.6, only Portland’s LaMalfa has a faster time in CT this season. That event also added the CT #3 and #4 times by Farmington’s Ethan Halstead (48.57) and New Britain’s Yendri Ruiz (48.59).

Delante Senior added to the Warhawk’s total in winning the 110m hurdle finals by setting a new record at 13.94. His PR was just ahead #1 seeded Davian Johnson of East Hartford in 14.12.

However, Bloomfield’s top point contributor was Jessie Singleton Jr. scoring 25 points taking not only the long jump at 22-02, but also the triple jump breaking the record twice, first at 44-7 and on his final mark of 45-01.25. He also scored a 4th place in the 110m hurdles for 5 more points.

The meet started with the Bristol Central 4x800m team of Isaiah Fabrizio, Naythan Pellerin, Landon Sisson, and Julieen Lopez winning over Windsor by a 8:03.00 to 8:06.52 margin. 

The Windsor 4x100m claimed gold medals with a strong performance in 42.33, a new CT#1 time from the foursome of Elijah Fraser, Jaden Langford, Jaylen Wesley and Shelldon Simpson II.

Isaiah Tripp of East Hartford took the 100m finals at 11.07 seconds, while teammate Davian Johnson stole the 300m hurdle with a time of 38.56, setting a new record. 

Windsor’s Shelldon Simpson II took the 200m yesterday with a quick 22.35.

Yesterday’s 800m title and a new record was earned by Tolland’s Dillon Stoeffler, at 1:54.08, a new CT #3 this season.

A back-to-back win for Hall yesterday in the distance events, with Jonah Schulman claiming the 1600m with an impressive time of 4:22.52 nipping Southington’s William Liebler (4:22.66) and Rocky Hill’s Daniel DiTunno (4:22.90) at the line. Later in the meet teammate Yohannes Dewander snagged the 3200m at 9:43.18 in a come-from-behind win at the wire over Avon’s Christopher Campbell at 9:43.49.

Marshall Potter of Simsbury dominated throwing events with wins and new records set in both the discus with a toss of 182-05 and the shot put at 57-01.75. 

Southington’s Jason Kalwat claimed victory in the javelin yesterday with a throw of 151-03.

Charles Hedrick of Lewis Mills High School cleared an astonishing 12 feet in the pole vault. 

There is nothing better for a coach to come back to his old high school and watch his athletes break his school record. In 2013 Basil Niccolls was a member of the New Britain 4x400m team that ran 3:19.81 to take 7th at NBNO. Now, 12 years later, he is passing on his knowledge to the next generation and the team of Cory Bates II (50.4), Ivan Munoz (49.0), Nikodem Kolc (51.29) and Yendri Ruiz (47.87) came from behind against defending champions Windsor; they broke both the meet and school record with their time of 3:18.74. This time makes them the 2nd best in CT this season and 8th best in state history.
