Huskies Complete Dual BIG EAST Championship Indoor & Outdoor SweepPublished by

STORRS, Conn.- UConn men's and women's track and field completed another dual indoor/outdoor BIG EAST Championship sweep, securing the 2025 BIG EAST Outdoor Track and Field Championship in Storrs on Saturday afternoon. The men secured their fifth consecutive outdoor championship and ninth outdoor title overall. The 298 points scored by the men's team are the most in BIG EAST Outdoor Track & Field Championship history. The women won their fourth straight outdoor championship and sixth outdoor championship with 206.5 points, tying Miami for second most in BIG EAST History (Villanova, 13). This is the eighth occurrence of dual championships from the men's and women's side in program history. Senior jumper Kasey Savage (Horsham,Pa.) won high point performer of the meet with 24 points after winning the long jump, taking silver in the triple jump, and third in the high jump. Sophomore Josh Mooney (Stonington, Conn.) won Men's Most Outstanding Field Performer after winning the decathlon and taking silver in the javelin. Led by Director of Track & Field and Head Coach Beth Alford-Sullivan, the UConn coaching staff was named both men's and women's BIG EAST Coaching Staff of the Year. Field Events: Travis Roux (Northport, N.Y.) defended his crown in the discus, winning gold with a throw of 51.99m. Garrett McHeard (Amsterdam, N.Y.) took the silver medal with a throw of 48.23m. Connor Hayford (Pittsfield, Mass.) secured the win in the javelin throw at 67.09m. Josh Mooney (Stonington, Conn.) continued his strong performance at the championships, claiming silver in the event at 59.94m. On the women's side, Brynn Madonna (Allendale, N.J.) won the gold medal with a throw of 44.86m. Caitlin Dumouchel (Mansfield, Mass.) claimed bronze with a throw of 42.72m. The trio of Kyle Johnson (Montverde, Fla.), Kasey Savage (Horsham, Pa.), and Marc Morrison (Orlando, Fla.) swept the men's triple jump. Johnson took home the title with a jump of 15.37m. Savage took silver with a new personal best of 15.30m. Morrison snagged bronze with a jump of 15.26m. Patrick Oatman (Amston, Conn.) took home the gold medal in the men's pole vault at Kyle Kurtz (Bethel, Conn.) took bronze at 4.56m. Track Events: In the women's 4x100m race, the team of Mia Dansby (Brockton, Mass.) , Sarah Claflin (Pembroke, Mass.) , Danielle Phillip (Valley Stream, N.Y.) and Audrey Kozak (Shelton, Conn.) took home the silver medal with a time of 45.71. On the men's side, the squad of Terrel Williams (Maplewood, N.J.) Noble Gongon (Simsbury, Conn.) , Damon Simpson (Easton, Pa.) and Nicholas Wright (Chappaqua, N.Y.) took silver with a time of 40.58, the 7th-best time in program history. In the 110m hurdle finals Williams took the silver medal with a time of 14.01. William Watson (Reston, Va.) claimed the bronze with a personal-best time of 14.24. Anna Connors (Bangor, Maine) took bronze in the 400m final, with a time of 53.91, the seventh-best time in program history. On the men's side Mekhi Stone (Smyrna, Ga.) won bronze in the 400m final, with a time of 46.51. Simpson took home silver in the men's 100m, with a time of 10.52. Gabby Davis (Franklin Park, N.J.) broke her own school record in the 400m hurdles, claiming the silver medal with a time of 58.92. Jessica Starr (Cobalt, Conn.) took the bronze with a time of 59.43. On the men's side, O.J. Singletary (Rochester, N.Y.) claimed the gold with a personal best time of 51.41, the fourth-fastest time in program history. Capping the meet, the team of Stone, Singletary, Brendan Kovar (Rockaway, N.J.) and Del Lindsay (Jersey City, N.J.) broke the school record in the 4x400m race, claiming silver with a time of 3:08.36. Men's and Women's Track & Field Lead After Day 2 of BIG EAST Championships 5/16/2025 9:00:00 PM | Men's Track and Field, Women's Track and Field STORRS, Conn.- UConn men's and women's track and field extended their advantage on both sides of Day 2 of the BIG EAST Outdoor Track and Field Championships Friday in Storrs. The men's side compiled 119 points, maintaining a 84 point lead over second-place DePaul. The women's side heads into Saturday's finale with 117.5 points, 72.5 points ahead of DePaul. Multi-Events: Audrey Kozak (Shelton, Conn.) won the heptathlon with 4,959 points, the 6th best mark in program history. Mackenzie Braunstein (Willimantic, Conn.) took home silver with 4,854 points, the 7th best mark in program history. Josh Mooney (Stonington, Conn.) secured gold in the decathlon, winning the event with 7,810 points, the second-best mark in program history. Max Ringwall (New Berlin, Wis.) took silver with a personal best 7,015 points. Field Events: Kasey Savage (Horsham, Pa.) secured the victory in the long jump, with a personal best 7.67m to claim the gold. The performance moves Savage up to third on the all-time program list. Marc Morrison (Orlando, Fla.) secured second with 7.65 to secure the silver. Jack Foster (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) secured silver in the shot put with a throw of 16.40m. Garrett McHeard secured the bronze with a throw of 15.80m. On the women's side, Sinclaire Fryer (Augusta, Ga.) claimed bronze with a personal best throw of 14.59, the fifth-best mark in program history. In the men's high jump, the Huskies completed the sweep. Enaji Muhammad (Branford, Conn.) secured the victory with a performance of 2.11m. Dar Jankovic (Willington, Conn.) earned silver with 2.05m. Savage took home bronze with 2.00m. Rachel Mason (Sussex, N.J.) took the gold medal in the women's pole vault, clearing 3.62m in one attempt. Katie Floering (San Jose, Calif.) claimed bronze, also at 3.62m in her third attempt. Track Events: In the prelims of the 1500m, Travis Martin (New Haven, Conn.) ran the third fastest-time overall and first in his heat with a time of 3:55.65, qualifying for the final tomorrow. Maresa Hense (Germany) and Daryn Davis (Huntley, Ill.) both qualified in the 100 meter hurdle finals tomorrow, with respective times of 14.02 and 15.16. Terrel Williams (Maplewood, N.J.), William Watson (Reston, Va.) and Jordon Quinn (Freeport, N.Y.) all qualified for tomorrow's 110 meter hurdles, with respective times of 13.73, 14.41, and 14.97. Anna Connors (Bangor, Maine) and Raquel Rosa (Waterbury, Conn.) qualified for tomorrow's 400m final, with respective times of 54.21 and 55.67. On the men's side, Mehki Stone (Smyrna, Ga.) and Brendan Kovar (Rockaway, N.J.) qualified for tomorrow's 400m final with respective times of 46.81 and 47.27. Mia Dansby (Brockton, Mass.) and Danielle Phillip qualified for tomorrow's 100m final tomorrow, with respective times of 12.08 and 12.15. On the men's side, Damon Simpson (Easton, Pa.) and Noble Gongon (Simsbury, Conn.) qualified in the 100m, with respective times of 10.56 and 10.84. In the 400m hurdles, Gabby Davis (Franklin Park, N.J.) and (Jessica Starr (Cobalt, Conn.) qualified for the final tomorrow, running times of 1:00.30 and 1:01.89, respectively. On the men's side, O.J. Singletary (Rochester, N.Y.) qualified for tomorrow's final, with a personal-best time of 51.67, the fastest-time of the day. Hense and Connors qualified for the 200m final tomorrow with respective times of 23.96 and 24.29. On the men's side Noble Gongon (Simsbury, Conn.) and Simpson qualified for tomorrow's final with times of 21.68 and 21.52, respectively. Faith Kiplimo (Eldoret, Kenya) took home bronze in the women's 3000m steeplechase, with a time of 10:20.92. Jenna Zydanowicz (West Hartford, Conn.) took second in the women's 5000m, with a time of 15:56.25.
