Over the previous ten days, Connecticut athletes competed in the TEAM USA Olympic Trials at the University of Oregon. Alexis Holmes, who grew up in Hamden and went to Cheshire Academy, a non CIAC school, punched her ticket to the Olympic Games in Paris last Sunday by placing 3rd in the 400m finals with a personal best time of 49.78 behind winner Kendall Ellis in 49.46 and silver medalist Aaliyah Butler in 49.71. All three had met the Olympic standard of 50.95.
