The Nonnewaug Boys narrowly defeated Litchfield to run their
record to 8-1 and Litchfield slipped to 6-3. The showdown between
perennial Berkshire League rivals had the depth of Nonnewaug
providing the winning margin despite a 1-2 finish by Litchfield's
Mike Stedronsky and Spencer Sass. Mike established the new course
and school record with a 17:11 clocking wth Spencer 11 seconds
behind.

A year ago, Litchfield and Nonnewaug squared off as the only league
undefeated teams and Nonnewaug pulled off the upset win. This year,
Litchfield was not to be denied as the two, again undefeated, teams
squared off. LHS applied a "pack attack" strategy on their new home
course to seal a 23-35 win to run their record to 9-0. Nonnewaug
goes to 8-1.
Lewis Mills Frosh superstar, Anna Shields established a new 4k
course record, winning in 15:42. Mills record is 6-3 and Terryville
2-8.

Jake Sullivan of Fitch finished first (16:59), but
Ledyard won the ECC Large Division meet 25-36. Kyle Stammel, David
Billing and Andrew Worth finished third through fifth, respectively,
for Ledyard (5-0, 4-0). Riley Nolan was second for the Falcons (3-3,
1-3).
Griswold stayed atop the ECC Medium Division with a 15-50 win over
Montville. Jason Cusack won the race for the Wolverines (4-0, 4-0),
followed by Erik Chester, Andrew Orum, Randy Evans and Rich Eighme
in the top five. Marc Gauthier was the top finisher for Montville
(1-3, 1-3).
Andrew Rissler won in 19:13 to give St. Bernard its 15-50 win over
Putnam in the ECC Small Division. Zach Young placed second for St.
Bernard (3-2, 3-0) while Dave Daly was third. Matt Mahoney finished
eighth for the Clippers (1-3, 1-3).
Kyle Friedman finished first (16:59) as Norwich Free Academy
defeated Woodstock Academy 16-46 in an ECC Large Division meet. Josh
Robertson, Matt Miclette and Kevin Martin finished second through
four, respectively, for NFA (5-0, 4-0). Mike Berkowitz finished
fifth for the Centaurs (2-2, 2-2)

Montville Shelby Donahue set a course record in
17 minutes, .03 seconds Tuesday, and the Griswold High School girls'
cross country team assumed sole possession of first place in the
Eastern Connecticut Conference Medium Division with a 21-37 win over
Montville.
Stephanie Slonski and Krystyna Chester finished in the top five for
the Wolverines (4-0, 4-0). Caitlin Quinn was the top finisher for
the Indians (3-1, 3-1).
Katherine Bossardet of Ledyard was first (15:03), but Fitch won
28-29 in the ECC Large Division.
Beth Kosta was second and Kat Zenowitz sixth for Fitch (5-1, 3-1).
Sarah Fritz placed third for the Colonels (2-3, 2-2) while Chelsea
Leverette was fourth.
Devon Butler finished first (19:35) as St. Bernard had the top 10
finishers, all of which crossed the finish line at the same time, in
a 15-50 win over Putnam in an ECC Small Division. Lauren Riley was
second and Gillian Rissler third for the Saints (5-0, 3-0). The
Clippers are 1-3, 1-3.
Meegan Joly won the race in 16:16 and Norwich Free Academy stayed
unbeaten with a 19-44 win over Woodstock Academy in the ECC Large
Division. Allison Black, Sterling Dumas and Kyley Chornoby finished
in the top five for the Wildcats (5-0, 4-0). Ashley Bates finished
second overall for the Centaurs (2-2, 2-2).
Maggie Luckhardt won the race in 19:54 and Wheeler defeated
Plainfield 15-50 in the ECC Small Division.
Brittany Leggett, Vanessa Conklin, Michelle Wanstall and Beth
Macinko finished in the top five for Wheeler (4-3, 2-1). Tracey
Dalcin was the top finisher for the Panthers (0-3, 0-3). |
