East Lyme — Fitch High School placed five runners in the top eight to nip East Lyme, 27-28, Wednesday in a boys' cross country meet between two undefeated Eastern Connecticut Conference Large Division teams.

Matt Eyler led the Falcons (3-0, 3-0) with a second-place finish in 16 minutes, 43 seconds, while Chris Foster took fourth (17:00), Riley Nolan sixth (17:13), Jake Sullivan seventh (17:16) and Justin Gauthier eighth (17:20).

East Lyme's Matt Warren finished first in 16:11. Alex Parulis was third (16:50) and Ryan Murdoch took ninth (17:42) for the Vikings (4-1, 2-1).

In other meets:

• Griswold's top five runners all finished with two seconds of each other in a 15-35 ECC Medium Division win over Montville. Erik Chester finished first in 18:27, followed by Adam Dyer-Cloutier, David Bausch and Chris Croft in 18:28 and Andrew Orum in 18:29 for the Wolverines (3-0, 3-0). Windham is 0-3, 0-3.

• Defending Class S champion Jacob Edwards led Wheeler to a 17-48 ECC Small Division win over Tourtellotte. Edwards won the 3.1 mile race in a time of 17:26 and teammates Kevin Gleason, Jonn Mars-Garrick and Manny Roman followed. Wheeler is 4-1, 3-0. Zach Putnam of Tourtellotte (0-2, 0-2) was fifth.

• Bacon took the top three spots in beating Montville, 19-38, in an ECC Medium Division meet. Sam Smith finished the 3.1-mile course first in 17:43, a second ahead of teammate Alex Peck and 13 ahead of Ben Gaurino. Marc Gauther was fourth for Montville (0-3, 0-3). Bacon is 3-1, 2-1.

• St. Bernard took the first five of the first six spots in sweeping Putnam (15-48) and Plainfield (18-45) in an ECC Small Division tri-meet. Andrew Rissler was first over the 3.1-mile course in 18:43, while teammate Zach Young was second in the same time for the Saints (2-4, 2-0). Larry Colvin was third for Plainfield (1-3, 1-3), which beat Putnam, 27-28. Putnam is 1-5, 0-3.

• Stonington's Pat Boyle beat Waterford's Ben Van Arnam by two seconds and the Bears went on for a 21-36 ECC Medium Division win. Boyle completed the 2.9 miles in 17:16. Stonington (4-0, 3-0) also took spots 3-5, led by Chris McCarthy. The Lancers are 1-2, 1-2.

• Williams School had six runners in the top seven, beating Cheshire Academy 20-43, Hyde-Woodstock 15-49, Hamden Hall 15-49 and MacDuffie 15-50. Anthony Colabella of Cheshire Academy won the 5-kilometer race in 19:02. Then the Blues had Gray Hallberg, Ryan Quinn, Nick McTurk, Andrew Piccirillo, McLean Quinn and Carter Quinn cross the finish line.

• Roland Durham was Grasso Tech's top finisher, placing fifth in 19:52, while losing to Wilcox Tech, 24-36, and Platt Tech, 19-41, in a Connecticut Vocational Technical Conference tri-meet. Joe Brown finished sixth in 20:49 for the Eagles (1-4, 1-4).

• Beth Kosta, Amanda Chapman and Annie Rowland finished 1-2-3 for Fitch in its 17-46 ECC Large Division win over East Lyme (3-2, 2-1). Kosta's winning time was 20:09. The Falcons are 3-0, 3-0. Cathleen Balantic took fourth for the Vikings, who put only two runners in the top 10.

• St. Bernard had the first seven finishers to beat Putnam and Plainfield, 15-50 each, in an ECC Small Division tri-meet. First on the 2.4-mile course was Emily Bowdy in 19:18, followed by teammates Gillian Rissler (19:19), Lauren Riley (19:19), Caroline Riley (19:20) and Emily Nassetta (19:21) to improve the Saints to 6-0, 2-0. Plainfield (2-2, 2-2) beat Putnam (2-4, 0-3), 20-37.

• Griswold's top four finishers all completed the 2.4-mile course in 16:33 as the Wolverines picked up a 15-50 ECC Medium Division win over Windham. Stephanie Slonski got the win, followed by Shelby Donahue, Amanda Fisher and Krystyna Chester for the Wolverines (3-0, 3-0). Kate Callahan finished fifth for the Whippets (0-3, 0-3).

• Emily Puscas beat teammate Colleen Clark, with both runners finishing the 3.1 miles in 21:56, in Bacon Academy's 17-44 ECC Medium Division win over Montville. Jessica Hooker was third for Bacon (3-1, 2-1) and teammate Lauren Dimberg was fourth. Nicole Dombrowski was fifth for Montville (1-2, 1-2).

• Bess Ritter and Nina Huang went 1-2 for Waterford in a 20-45 ECC Medium Division win over Stonington. Ritter ran the 2.4-mile course in 16:22 and Huang finished in 16:41 for the Lancers (2-1, 2-1). Laura Brustolon was third for Stonington (1-3, 1-2).

• Wheeler took the top six places, beating Tourtellotte 15-47 in an ECC Small Division meet. Freshman Maggie Luckhardt won the race, finishing the 2.5 miles in 18:00. Wheeler (5-0, 3-0) then had Heather Potter, Laura Levreault, Brittany Leggett, Vanessa Conklin and Beth Macinko cross the finish line. Nora Eldean of Tourtellotte (0-2, 0-2) was seventh.

• Grasso Tech's Kaitlen Gayle finished third in 19:56 and teammate Heather Day placed fifth in 19:58 for Grasso Tech in a Connecticut Vocational Technical Conference tri-meet against Platt Tech and Wilcox Tech. Christine Ortez took 11th in 24:20 for the Eagles, who lacked numbers to score as a team.
