Suffern (N.Y.) Invitational
Fitch won the Suffern (N.Y.) Invitational for the first time in the varsity ‘B' race. Betsy Boucher led the Falcons, placing fifth in 19:22, and Lizzie Littlewood took ninth in 19:44 while Blair Kauffmann was 12th in 19:56 and Margo Ward finished 13th in 20:07. Genna Jones (15th in 20:20), Kaitlin Kennedy (23rd in 21:00) and Amanda Chapman (35th in 21:38) also ran for Fitch, which won the race with 54 points. Monroe-Woodbury (N.Y) placed second with 84 points.

ECC Scores:
•Killingly senior Meghan Owen broke her own course record, completing the 4,000 meter course in 14 minutes, 9 seconds, to take first place, but the Redgals lost to Bacon Academy and Nowich Free Academy. Owen set the previous mark of 14:19 two years ago. Dana Merise placed second (16:23), leading Norwich Free Academy past Killingly, 20-47, and Bacon Academy, 19-48. Bethany Lepine was third (16:50) for the Bobcats, who beat the Redgals, 20-43.

• Allie Barner won the meet in 15:32, and East Lyme defeated Ledyard, 22-37, in the ECC Large Division. Erin O'Connell was second overall for the Vikings (2-0), while Sarah Fritz, third overall, was Ledyard's top finisher in 16:11. Ledyard is 1-1.

• Four Montville runners finished in the top five as the Indians defeated Stonington, 20-35, in the ECC Medium Division. Sarah LaFrancois, Chesney McOmber, Brittany Sullivan and Cailyn Deal finished second through fifth repsectively for the Indians (2-1, 2-0). Stephanie Carmack won the meet in 18:15 for the Bears (0-1).

Saryn Evans finished second overall as Windham defeated Waterford,
15-50, in the ECC Medium Division. Jamie Richards was fourth overall for
the Whippets (1-2, 1-1). Bess Ritter won the meet for Waterford (0-2,
0-2).

ECC Scores:

Fitch Runs Past Woodstock
Groton - Matt Eyler, Ryan Gauthier and Chris Foster finished in the top 10, helping Fitch High School's boys' cross country team to a 26-29 win over Woodstock Academy Tuesday in an Eastern Connecticut Conference Large Division meet.

Eyler, Gauthier and Foster finished sixth, seventh and eighth, respectively. Fitch's Mark Olivier covered 3.1 miles in 16 minutes, 4 seconds to win the race, while Kevin Graham was second in 16:48. The Falcons (2-0, 2-0) were missing No. 2 runner Sean Burbank.

• Senior Jon-Paul Mandelburg took first place in 16:47 to pace Norwich Free Academy in wins over Killingly (15-50) and Bacon Academy (15-50). Nathan Morello (18:06) and Nathan Wilson (18:22) finished in second and third for the Wildcats. Scott Harmen led Killingly, which beat Bacon, 18-37, with a ninth place finish in 19:16.

• David Holliday broke the course record, finishing in 16:04, to pace Ledyard past East Lyme, 15-49. Former NFA runner Chris Andrew set the old mark of 16:14 in 2000. Neil Bajorin took second for the Colonels (2-0). Matt Warren was seventh in 16:59 for the Vikings (0-2).

• Six Griswold runners finished at the same time, giving the Wolverines wins over Plainfield, 15-50, and St. Bernard, 15-49, in the ECC Small Division. St. Bernard also defeated Plainfield (27-29). Jordan Kimble, Josh Brazean, Chris Croft, Tradelle Ward, Reynolds Chapman and Gavin Coombs finished in 19:44 for Griswold (3-0, 2-0 in the ECC Small Division). Andrew Rissler finished seventh overall in 19:53 for the Saints (1-1, 0-1 in the ECC Small Division). Charlie Hansen finished in 21:05 to lead the Panthers (0-3, 0-1 in the ECC Medium Division).

• Sam Agnello, Bennett Brissette and Kyle Wheeler finished in the top five as Stonington edged Montville, 24-35, in the ECC Medium Division. Agnello finished in 17:12, in front of Brissette (19:22, fourth overall) and Wheeler (19:23, fifth). Montville's Matt Lebal won the meet in 17:04. Stonington is 1-0 overall and in the division, while Montville is 1-2, 1-1.

• Four Waterford runners finished in the top five as the Lancers remained unbeaten in the ECC Medium Division with a 21-34 win over Windham. Matt Marinelli (17:41) won the meet for the Lancers (2-0, 2-0), while Kyle Pias, Tim Pisacich and Tristan Ostronic finished third through fifth respectively. Tim Carey was second overall and Windham's top finisher in 17:45. The Whippets are 0-3, 0-2.

• Norwich Tech swept a quad meet against Connecticut Vocational Technical Conference foes Windham Tech (15-50), Grasso Tech (17-44) and Ellis Tech (22-37) in a meet run at the old Norwich State Hospital site in Preston. Emmanuel Gomez led the Warriors by finishing second overall while Steve Duncan (fourth), Josh Gonzalez (sixth), Juan Negron (eighth) and Darryl Alves (ninth) also finished in the top 10. Grasso, which beat Windham Tech (15-50) but lost to Ellis Tech (26-32) was led by Roland Dunham in 11th and Anthony Longo in 12th.
