WHS harriers fall short
MONTVILLE — The Windham High boys crosscountry team was edged by
Montville (27-28) and Bacon Academy (24-33) in its ECC Medium
division opener Tuesday afternoon at Montville High School.
Tim Carey (18:43) earned a third-place finish for the Whips (0-2
overall, 0-1 ECC Medium) while Greg Ulkus placed sixth (20:14) and
Kurt Neuhfer crossed in 10th (21:35).
Also crossing the finish line for Windham were Anthony Mendes
(22:06), Evan Canfield (22:11), Ricky Mendez (25:03) and Brian
Neuhfer (30:19).
Matt Liebal (17:35) finished first overall for the host Indians
(1-1, 1-0), who fell to Bacon Academy.

Whips drop pair
MONTVILLE — The Windham High girls cross country team opened its
Eastern Connecticut Conference schedule by dropping a Medium
division contest with Montville and interdivisional opponent Bacon
Academy by identical 16-47 scores.
Saryn Evans (20:09) grabbed a top-10 finish for the Whips (0-2
overall, 0-1 ECC Medium) while finishing ninth overall. Other
Windham runners to cross the finish line were Brenna Bolduc (23:42),
Jaime Richards (26:27), Lora Hurley (26:47) and Crystal McKinnon
(27:34).
Bacon Academy’s Bethany Lepine finished the 4,000-meter course first
overall with a time of 18:37.
