Hall Completes A CCC Sweep

The Hall-West Hartford girls team won the CCC indoor track championship with 68 points on Friday night at Wesleyan University in Middletown.

Bristol Central took second (56), followed by Glastonbury (43).

The Warriors also won the CCC West title, completing a boy-girl sweep. The Hall boys won the CCC overall and West titles Thursday. 

Friday, Hall's Lia Ringquist won the 1,600 in 5:40.34 and finished fourth in the 3,200 (12:55.05). Hall also won the sprint medley (4:37.59) and 4x400 relays (4:25.81). Hall also took second in the 4x800 (10:16.81).

Other key performances for Hall included Katie Krause, who finished third in the shot put (34 feet, 6 inches) and Claire Hayes, who took second in the high jump (5-1).

Division winners were decided for the first time in the CCC meet, as well as the overall champion.

Bristol Central won the CCC South with 56 points and Rockville won the CCC East with 33.

Bristol Central's Jacqualine Croce won the high jump at 5-11/2 and took second in the long jump (16-21/2).

Sarah Anderson of Bloomfield won the long jump (17-53/4), Britta Schlunder of Newington won the pole vault (9-6) and Shawna Strayhorn of Maloney-Meriden won the shot put (38-3). 

Hall wins CCC boys track: 

Hall-West Hartford, led by victories in all three relays, won its first CCC boys title with 76 points at Wesleyan in Middletown. Evan Shai (600, 1:25.8) and Nate Rosenthal (1,600, 4:41.9) were the Warriors' individual winners. "We've been close to winning it several times," Hall coach Tom Butterfield said. "The kids talked about how close we've been in the past and really wanted to win it."
