Wendys High School Heisman - CT 2005 Finalists

(Nov, 15 2005) Since 1994 more than 125,000 high school seniors have been nominated for the Wendy’s High School Heisman - the most prestigious high school award honoring senior female and male students who have excelled in academics, athletics and community service. The WHSH program has set the standard for high school student-citizen-athletes, and gained tremendous prestige in its own right. Each fall, the program recognizes the nation’s most esteemed high school senior men and women for excellence in academics, community service, and athletics.

To date more than 125,000 high school nominated students have been touched by the Heisman mystique. Of them, 133 have progressed to the National Finalist level, with 22 earning the designation of Wendy’s High School Heisman National Award Winners. Each year, two new students officially join the prestigious Heisman family.

This year, Connecticut Principals, Guidance Counselors and Athletic Directors from each high school nominated one male and one female senior who met the special criteria. The field was narrowed to 10 male and 10 female State Finalists. The list is further narrowed to 1 male and 1 female State Winner. All State Finalists will be honored at the Northeast Regional awards dinner at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough MA on Thursday night, Nov. 17, 2005. The list of twenty Connecticut finalists this year includes eleven cross country and/or track and field athletes (marked in bold below).

The 12 National Finalists will be given an all expense paid trip to New York City, gold medal of recognition, and $1,000 for their high school.
