30th Windham Invite - Saturday - Sep. 13, 2008
A milestone year has been reached for the Windham Invitational as this traditional first meet of the season enjoys its 30th season. Meet director Bob Haddad invites all state coaches and athletes with their first opportunity to compete in a meet that has typically drawn top teams from across the state. A full slate of races, from Freshman to Junior Varsity to Varsity, are offered at the meet for boys and girls that is scheduled for a new start time of 9:30am Saturday, September 13th, 2008 at Windham High School.

New this year is the switch of the Varsity and Junior Varsity Girl's races to the 3.0 mile course...same as their male teammates. Freshmen races will remain the same 2.1 miles. The meet always features great awards to the top teams and individuals in all the races. Once again this year, two special awards will be given this year, (1) a special shirt to the top five runners in each varsity race and (2) the boys and girls varsity team with the fastest total time of their first 5 runners (out of the three boys and three girls varsity races) will receive a Team Windham Cross Country Invitational Windbreaker. The cost of meet entry is $110 for both boys and girls teams, $60 for just boys or just girls teams.

Online Team Roster Entry forms are available again this year for this Featured Meet in order to complement the finish line procedures and are available as of Aug 30, 2008. All meet information, including course maps, race schedule, directions is available at the: Windham Invite website.

21st Going to the Sun XC Invite - Thursday, Sep 18, 2008
Meet Director Marty Roberts has sent out the invitations to the 21st Annual Going to the Sun XC Meet scheduled for Thursday, September 18th, 2008 at 3:45pm. All races, JV and Varsity for Boys and Girls, are run on a scenic, rolling, mostly grass course at the Coginchaug Regional High School and the surrounding athletic fields. Awards will include “Going to the Sun” long sleeve shirts to first place individuals, trophies to the top three teams, and ribbons to the top 25 in each race. Over 744 athletes representing 31 small and medium-sized schools competed last year.  The Intent to Enter Online form is now available online as well as the Team Roster Entry forms as of Sep 1 2008. 2nd New Balance Ocean State Invitational - Friday-Saturday, Sep. 26-27, 2008
Meet Directors Bob Rothenberg, Anne Rothenberg and Charles Breagy invite any Connecticut high school and middle school to their 2nd New Balance Ocean State Invitational scheduled for Friday-Saturday, September 26-27, 2008 at Goddard Park, in Warwick, Rhode Island. The Middle School races are slated for Friday while high school races are scheduled on Saturday.

The meet offers races for Middle School, Freshmen, Junior Varsity, Varsity, and Championship Levels on a spectator friendly, scenic course. Meet administrators offer an accurate time schedule and an Awards Ceremony. Special attractions include live music, coach’s gift and free hot lunch, ample space for warm-up and team tents.  New features for the 2008 meet include a new time schedule to shorten the day for all schools, reduced entry fees and an increase in the medals awarded to individual places.

The  2nd New Balance Ocean State Invitational website provides more information, including secure online roster entry, hotel accommodations, course maps, awards listing, and past results. Registration is now open to all interested schools.

Meet Director Lindy Remigino invites all high school teams to the state's oldest cross country invitational, the 59th Greater Hartford Cross Country Meet, on Saturday, October 4, 2008 at times posted on the Race Schedule page at Stanley Quarter Park in New Britain. After a successful meet last season hosted by Central Connecticut State University, the GHXC returns to the scenic, mostly grass and trail course.  The meet features boys and girls race events for all levels including Freshman, Junior Varsity and Varsity on very fan-friendly race courses that include 5km courses for Varsity and JV boys and girls.  Awards include Medals to the first 20 runners in all Races, Silver Revere bowls to the winning and second place teams in Championship and Open Races, and Silver Revere bowls to each individual winner in Championship and Open Races.

For the second year, there will be separate boys and girls Middle School Races for 6th, 7th and 8th grade athletes. The Middle School races will use a 1.1-mile course. The entry fee is $60 per school (boys and girls as one entry fee). Medals to the first 20 runners. Interested middle school coaches should use the Online Intent to Enter form to register their team and provide contact information.

In order to provide complete and accurate Varsity scoring for Open and Charter races, there is an online entry for Varsity Team Entries only after Sept. 14, 2008. The Intent to Enter  forms is now available online. All meet information, including course maps, race schedule, directions is available at the 59th Greater Hartford Cross Country Meet website.

Meet Director Bill Barron welcomes any state and regional high schools to the 2008 Wickham Park Invitational scheduled for Saturday, October 11, 2008 at Wickham Park in Manchester CT. The meet starts at 9:00am with a special 7th-8th grade race and is followed by a Freshman race and a full slate of Junior Varsity and Varsity races in UnSeeded, Seeded and Championship divisions.

New changes this year include an increase in the JV and Varsity Girls race distance from 4km to 5km in light of the change in the Girls CIAC Championship races to the 5km distance. Also new this year is the change to an Online Intent to Enter form for all interested coaches. There are three important dates to note this year:

1. Online Intent to Enter form deadline - Friday, Oct. 3, 2008 - 11:59pm
2. Mail your Entry Fee with copy of completed Intent to Enter form by Saturday, October 4, 2008.
3. Varsity Roster Entry Deadline: Monday, Oct. 6  2008, 9:00pm.

In order to again provide complete Varsity results, the online entry for Varsity Team Rosters starts on Sept. 21, 2008 and ends on Monday, Oct. 6th. The Online Intent to Enter form is now available online. Coaches are urged to visit the meet website to complete, print and mail the online Intent to Enter form with your entry fee as soon as possible.
