Tribute to Jack Long
Jack Long was the long time coach of Bacon Academy’s Boys' and Girls’ Cross Country and Track Programs. As the head coach of 4 separate sports at Bacon Academy, his teams won more than 700 dual meet victories and three Girls' State Class S Titles (1977, 1978, 1984).

Mr. Long was recognized as the Connecticut Coach of the Year in Girl’s Track in 1977. He was also recognized as National Coach of the Year for Girl’s Track and Field in 1992.

During his career at Bacon Academy (where he also taught English), Jack coached outdoor track from 1962 to 1996. He also coached Cross Country from 1966 to 1995.

He is particularly proud of the role that he played to help develop girls track and field (and indoor track) in the State of Connecticut.
